Thank you for having a look at our latest natural toy!

The E.P Wooden Longbow is 33" in length, and made from steam-bent, solid ash hardwood, using the same traditional method of steam bending that we use for curving our Solid Wood Rockerboards.

This toy is entirely handmade, with care, in our Chicago based workshop. The bow is curved, tapered and shaped by hand, sanded smooth, and strung with red, stretch paracord. The center grip is a soft, red paracord. The 18" arrows are ash hardwood dowels, made in the midwest, topped with upcycled cotton cloth for a softer landing. The grooved lines just above the arrow nocks are meant to help your child keep a firm grip on the arrow while drawing back.

The bow and arrows are coated with our custom beeswax polish, made from organic jojoba oil and midwestern beeswax.

This bow and arrow does not have a centering hole or pin. Shooting relies upon a child using their hands and eyes to center and balance the arrow. With a little assistance in the beginning, even a very young child will get the knack of it, and become very proud archers! And watching them so quickly develop the coordination skills and patience is really worth it. Because the bow is steam-bent, as kids get older and can draw the elastic cord to it's limit, they can pull further to slightly bend the bow limbs, which produces more shooting power.

Bow length: 33"

Arrow length: 18"

Bow & Arrow Set includes: One bow and two arrows.

Finish: Organic jojoba oil and Beeswax

Great for ages 5 and up!

* Our ash hardwood comes from ash trees that have fallen in the metropolitan Chicago area, due to the invasive Emerald Ash Borer. We are very proud to be able to support a small local mill, Horigan Urban Forest Products, where only urban lumber is harvested and milled.

* I introduce the bow and arrow to little ones by showing them how to hold the bow at the center grip, and how to place the arrow nock at the very center of the string, while resting the tip on top of their gripping hand or thumb. I show them how to draw back by pinching the arrow end as if they were pinching a nose, being mindful not to pinch the string, and to draw back as far as they are can, but not past the soft ball at the tip, and fire away! The rest is pure fun. I also remind them to never point their bows and arrows at other people, and that centering the arrow on the string will make for the best shooting.
